Продукт термич. разложения торфа. Состав в зависимости от влажности исх. торфа, об. %: 8,3-9,4 СО2; 0,4 СН,; 0,1-0,2 02; 25-27 СО; 16-17 Н2; 2,3-3,0 СН4, 44,5-45,5 N2, теплота сгорания 6,15-6,5 МДж/м3. В связи с развитием добычи природного газа произ-во т. г. в России весьма ограничено.
